Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky celebrated Kyiv’s apparent first strike with its new drone missile Palianytsia. It was used for the first time on August 24, when “it struck an enemy military facility in the temporarily occupied territory,” said Ukraine’s strategic industries ministry. The next day, Zelensky took to X saying the drone missile was “designed to destroy enemy’s offensive potential.” The long-range weapon, which was developed within 18 months, has around two dozen Russian military airfields within its strike range, reports Newsweek. The Ukrainian president also posted a video clip which gave some background on why the weapon was developed.
